Methoxychlor

Methoxychlor is a pesticide regulated in the US and elsewhere.

Chemical Formula: C16H15Cl3O2
Other names: 0.048, 1,1,1-Trichloro-2,2-bis(p-methoxyphenyl)ethane
Layman's explanation: Methoxychlor is a relative of DDT applied as a pesticide on crops and animals. It is sold as a flee dip for dogs. Although it is less stable and therefore less persistent than DDT it is still toxic and is regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act, a bill passed by the U.S. Congress in 1974 that limits the amount of pollutants that can be present in U.S. drinking water.
