Layman's explanation: Oxychlordane is designated as persistent organic pollutant (POP) by the UN. The compound persistent in the environment and bioaccumulates. It contaminates all environmental compartments and has affected fish populations and other biota. It undergoes global transport and is found in remote regions like the Arctic where it was never used or produced.
