Mecoprop is a selective hormone type phenoxy herbicide used for the selective control of surface creeping weeds.
Chemical Formula:
C10H11Cl1O3
Layman's explanation:Mecoprop is a general use pesticide that is used on ornamental plants, sports turf, and in forest site preparation for the selective control of clovers, chickweed, ivy and other surface creeping weeds. This substance is odorless and generally a white to light brown crystalline solid that decomposes upon heating to produce toxic and corrosive fumes such as hydrogen chloride. Mecoprop has been found to be slightly toxic and may be associated with cancer of the soft tissues as well as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Contact with the substance may cause eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation.
