CyclohexaneHexane is a six-membered ring that is a naturally occuring hydrocarbon.
Chemical Formula:
C6H12
Layman's explanation:
Cyclohexane exists naturally in petroleum, but is also commercially produced by hydrolizing benzene. It is relatively volatile with a boiling point lower than that of water. The ability of cyclohexane to assume different conformations lends itself to a vast array of chemistry. It is nearly insoluble in water and is often used as an organic solvent. Cyclohexane is also used in the preparation of nylon.
