Nitrogen Dioxide is formed when fuel burns at a high temperature.

Layman's explanation: Nitrogen Dioxide is primarily a product of fuel emissions and is part of the cloudy mass called smog. It is also a component of acid rain. Nitrogen Dioxide can cause many respiratory problems in humans and cause bodies of water to be unlivable for fish.
