Layman's explanation: Thiourea is a stable colorless crystal. It is incompatible with strong acids and bases, strong oxidizing agents, metallic salts, proteins, and hydrocarbons although it may violently react with acroleinand. Thiourea is generally used for photography development and color mix agent, animal glue liquefiers, metal cleansers, manufacture of a thermosetting resin, insecticides, as a textile-treating agent, and as starting or intermediate material for dyes and drugs. Thiourea exposure can cause severe skin irritations, especially when those irritations are exposed to most any type of light, even neon light. Thiourea is also carcinogenic in tested lab animals, and a suspected carcinogen to humans.
